Penny is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 26 years of experience in providing professional counseling to adults, adolescents and children. Penny understands that a family’s ways of communicating and interacting influence each individual member and may, in turn, affect self-esteem and the relationships each person forms outside their original family. Penny focuses on partnering with each individual, couple and/or family group to support them in identifying and achieving specific and attainable treatment goals.
In addition to providing counseling services in settings ranging from non-profit counseling centers to private practice, her past experience includes: presenting programs for community and professional groups on dating violence, suicide prevention, stress management, anger control, conflict resolution, parenting strategies, play therapy and other mental health topics; providing supportive counseling and coordination of practical services to victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita; counseling survivors of petrochemical plant explosions in southeast Texas, and providing premarital counseling as a certified Prepare/Enrich counselor. As the wife of a pastor for the past 48 years, Penny also has extensive experience in supporting and assisting those with spiritual issues and providing support for clergy and their families.
