MEET Taylor:

Taylor is a National Certified Counselor who practices from a family systems approach, even when working with individuals.  She believes that we can have grace with ourselves by learning why we are the way that we are, while also striving for change and growth.  Asking for help with change and growth can be a daunting first step, and Taylor provides a warm, inviting space and presence to help clients feel comfortable with their decision to engage in therapy. Growth is difficult. It is not always linear, and it can be frustrating and disheartening to feel as if we have regressed in our journey towards our best selves. Taylor is supportive and validating along inevitable ups and downs during the journey. The strength and rapport of the therapeutic relationship can be one of the greatest indicators of a client’s success, so Taylor approaches each client with empathy and compassion.

Taylor believes that we know and act on what life has taught us. We learn from our family of origin, relationships, trauma, jobs, pain, and other experiences. We sometimes adopt harmful, fearful, or hurtful ways of seeing ourselves, others, and the world around us. However, that does not mean we cannot learn something new that is healthy and helpful and will help us attain personal growth.

Taylor has experience working in a community mental health clinic, and has specialized in working with patients with Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder in the past. She also has experience with working with individuals who are in crisis and providing crisis stabilization. Taylor completed a year of internship in her graduate program working with children and adolescents in a school setting during the day and conducting family therapy with them in the evenings. Working with clients using a family systems approach is Taylor’s passion, and an area that she has been trained in specifically.
